A listing of pre-1930 collectable stocks and bonds
The Great Depression era in the United States changed many aspects of American life, including the finance and investment industry. We have separated our collectable certificates into 2 categories with 1930 being the separating point. With the depression and the stock market crash, came a new era in business, investing, and the stock markets themselves. The financial industry was regulated prior to 1930 and the stock market crash, but only moderately so and with little regard for fraud, risk, and wild speculation. It was quite easy for a company to "go public" and begin selling their shares to would-be investors. Fortunate for those of us that are now collectors, the history and sheer existence of these myriad of companies has been preserved in a remarkable array of stock and bond certificates.

American Poultry School Company Kansas City, Missouri Issued / Uncancelled certificate, dated 1921, Kansas City, Missouri. An unusual poultry / agriculture related company focused on the raising and breeding of poultry for egg production. Included in this lot is a book: "Call of the Hen or the science of Selecting and Breeding Poultry for Egg-Production"; published 1921 and a lesson brochure: The American Poultry School, Lesson No. 25; Enemies and Parasites; published 1925 Certificate is in F condition. Book is in Fine condition and the lesson booklet is in Good+ condition with some damp staining.

This company produced primarily aviation and marine engines. No vignette, but heavily scripted. Certificate was issued less than 2 months after the 1929 stock market crash!
