East Lake District - Holy Cross, Eagle County

Issued / Uncancelled, 1905. Stated on certificate; "Denver, Colorado".

This is a previously unknown certificate variety for this company. Beautiful tan border with multiple small vignettes and bright gold seal. Properties were located at East Lake Camp which lies deep within the current Holy Cross Wilderness area, between Fulford and Holy Cross City on East Lake Creek. The company also operated a hydro-electric power plant on East Lake Creek. Only a handful of mines were worked within the long glacial valley's of the Holy Cross region due to the difficulties in reaching them and getting the ore to a mill. Most of the mines in the area were small and only moderately productive, however, some were worked off and on into the 1920's. Remnants of many of these operations in East Lake, Cross Creek, and other drainages can still be seen today by the mills, cabins, tailings, and machinery left behind. Certificate is in VF condition.
