Cattle, Land AND Water Certificates
|
Presented by the Denver Stock Exchange.
Your source for historic and collectable Colorado stock and bond certificates.
Nothing says "Colorado" quite like this diverse, but closely related group of stock certificates. Next to mining, Colorado is possibly second-best known for its Cattle Ranching, Water-Rights issues, and Land booms & busts. Land was important for a multitude of reasons including farming, ranching, logging, town sites, etc. The water than ran across and through the land became the subject of remarkable legal battles and resulted in physically shaping the landscape across Colorado in the form of irrigation ditches, reservoirs, and tunnels bored directly through the Rockies to move water from one side of the Divide to the other. Water was important to the cattle, the crops, and the residents who settled the land, for survival in the arid high desert of Colorado.
